A major casualty of the COVID-19 pandemic is the dramatic decrease in the number of blood donations across the United States. Warren is not immune from the far-reaching impact of COVID-19. As a community-minded organization, Betts hosts a blood drive twice a year (June and October). During Betts’ June 3rd blood drive, the visiting community blood bank took all the precautionary measures against COVID-19 to safely collect from employees. Regardless of such precautions, one might expect participation to be down compared to other blood drives. It was not! Over the course of five hours, 25 employees donated 26 units of lifesaving blood. Employees maintained donations at pre-COVID levels.
