Pneumatic Full Opening Manhole Lock – For Betts Standard Wingnut Assembly

The Betts Manhole Lock is a pneumatically operated locking mechanism that prevents the rotation and release of the manhole’s wingnut assembly.  The lock assembly is retrofittable to a Betts manhole to provide a tamper resistant integral locking system which prevents release of the manhole wingnut assembly until an air signal is provided.  The release signal can come from an air valve located in a secured cabinet or it can be provided by an electronic control module.

If desired, the locking bracket assembly is designed to accept a sensor that can interface with a Tanker Control Module (TCM).  This system can monitor if the cover is in the “open” or “closed” state and can replace the need for security cable seals.  The TCM is available through Tanktroniks at www.tanktroniks.com.

The standard locking assembly is for use with Betts’ standard wingnut assembly 3576SL.  Other styles of locking brackets are available to fit alternate wingnut shapes and sizes.  See catalog page Section 96 Page 1C for alternate bracket details.

The manhole cover lock is stainless steel for corrosion resistance and includes a brass locking piston for wear resistance.  The manhole lock block has nitrile seals and a ¼ NPT inlet port.  Refer to MM-MH002 for maintenance and installation instructions.
